Designated Nurse for LAC & Deputy Nurse for Safeguarding Children
North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is responsible for commissioning high quality health and adult social care services for a population of approximately 170,000. North East Lincolnshire has beautiful coastline and countryside and is a developing part of the country with unique, exciting and successful health and social care partnership arrangements with a shared senior executive across the CCG and local authority. We work closely with providers of health services, local government, regulatory bodies, voluntary and carer groups, patient representatives and the general public to achieve the best health and care outcomes possible and to ensure high quality, safe and effective services.
NELCCG welcomes applications from all parts of the community and particularly from applicants with a BME background.
The CCG has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated nurse, midwife or health visitor to work as Designated Nurse for Looked After Children (LAC) & Deputy Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children, within North East Lincolnshire CCG.
The Designated professionals have a critical role to play in supporting the CCG to ensure that what we are commissioning and what our providers are delivering is the best possible care for the children, young people and adults of North East Lincolnshire.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of the statutory guidance and legislation in relation to looked after children, care leavers, fostering and adoption, unaccompanied asylum seeking children and safeguarding. The post holder will lead the strategic looked after children’s agenda and will work to ensure that the CCG achieves its statutory LAC functions, including seeking assurances that the quality and effectiveness of services provided meet the needs of children looked after. The post holder will be expected to lead and support all activities necessary to ensure that the CCG’s commissioned services are meeting their required responsibilities for children looked after.
You should have experience of looked after children and the safeguarding agenda, and will work with and deputise for the CCG Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Adults. You will need to work collaboratively with key individuals from across the NHS commissioning and provider landscape, as well as key multi-agency partners.
Ideally you will be educated to Masters level and have significant experience of partnership working around children looked after and the safeguarding partnerships, with proven leadership skills within services, projects or strategic change.
The post is Agenda for Change Band 8A and is a full time post (37.5 hrs. per week). The office base will be the CCG headquarters at Municipal Offices Grimsby, with agile working across a range of sites in NE Lincolnshire. As the post holder, we will offer you support and supervision, and appropriate training and development opportunities in line with the post.
