Vacancy Description

John Whitgift Academy is looking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to start in November 2019. To compliment teachers’ delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, students and academy policies and strategies. To work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources. To supervise whole classes during the short term absence of teachers. To provide support to students, teachers and the academy in order to raise standards of achievement for all, by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes and to encourage students to become independent learners, to provide support for their welfare, and to support the inclusion of students in all aspects of academy life.

John Whitgift Academy is the highest performing academy in North East Lincolnshire and is in the top 4% of most improved academies in the country. Its student population is rapidly growing with numbers leaving in 2019 compared to those joining, increasing by 200%. Behaviour is good with a relentless focus upon learning, aspiration and in establishing quality effective relationships between students, staff and the local community. Outcomes in 2018 were above national average in all main categories and the academy is very fortunate to have exceptional facilities, such as swimming pools, an engineering base and a 220 seat private cinema.
